Good Life Journal – Hebrews 6

Scripture:

We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.

 Hebrews 6:19-20

Observation:

A promise had been made, a way has been paved, and a promise has been fulfilled in the Christ the Lord of all. A promise that was waited for has been revealed.

Application:

As I read this chapter this morning I thought about many times we claim promises of God and promises to see what we desire to come to come true. We claim them as if these promises are the hope of our materialistic future on earth. We say, we will wait on the miracle, we will wait on the promise and we even go to stories of Abraham to say that he waited on the promise and it came true, we should.  The beauty of verses 19 and 20 is the promise is Jesus. ALL promises are found in Jesus. We have a SURE and steadfast hope and anchor for the soul and it is Jesus. HE has gone to the inner place behind the curtain as our high priest.

Now, I know that promises in the Bible that give us direction are powerful yet can never find a replacement for Jesus. The promises of God must point me to the hope of Jesus. 2 Corinthians 1:20 says, “For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his Glory.”

The promises of God are found in Jesus, and given to give Glory to God.

A couple things:

1. Know the promises of God are for the Glory of God.

2. We have sure hope for our soul, trust in him daily. He IS THE PROMISE.

3. Know that Jesus went where I could not in order to give me access to what I didn’t deserve.

Prayer:

Father, may my heart raise up gratitude, praise, adoration, and all that you require and desire because of what you have done. Jesus, forgive me for my disobedience and lack of faith and pursuit. I trust in you Jesus to change me and lead me to obediene.
