Scripture –
John 7:37-38 – On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “if anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
Observation –
Jesus stood up on the last and great day of the Feast of Booths and boldly proclaims that those who are thirsty come to Him for water. When we believe in Jesus, our hearts will be filled with the Spirit of Living Water bubbling up inside of us. Jesus is referencing the water he gives is from God for salvation.
Application –
Jesus is our creator, redeemer and sustainer and the source from which the only water that will truly quench our thirst comes. I must be thirsty for the living water of Jesus and confess with my mouth and believe in my heart that He is my risen savior and Lord. The Living Water of the Holy Spirit gives me strength, courage and power to do things for the Kingdom that I cannot do on my own.
This all starts when I submit and have a repentant loving heart for God and others.
Prayer –
Father,
Thank you for your love in sending Jesus so I can repent to have a relationship to know you and make you known. Thank you for the living water of the Holy Spirit within to guide me to do and say things in love to extend your glory.
