Good Life Journal – Psalm 128

Scripture:

[1] Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways!

Observation:

The psalmist doesn’t leave it at “Blessed is everyone”.  There is a qualifier.  He emphasizes that those who fear him and walk in his ways are the ones who are blessed.  Not those who have heard of him but really just want a genie in a bottle to bless them when they get in trouble.

Application:

Everyone – your past doesn’t matter; your social status doesn’t matter; your race doesn’t matter.  All that matters is that you fear the Lord and walk in his ways.

To fear God is to know the he is almighty; to revere him; to be in awe of him, and to honor him.

To walk in his ways is to obey him; to work at being more and more like him; to walk with him all the time, not just some of the time or when you need him to bail you out of a bad decision.

If you are that person, you are part of the everyone who will be blessed.  Yes, you will still have hard times in this life but with blessed by him you will find joy no matter your circumstances.

Prayer:

Lord I love You.  You are almighty God, the creator of the universe; the One who gives me breath in my lungs.  Thank you for my joy Lord.  My joy comes from loving You and walking with You in my trek to be more and more like You.  In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, amen.
